Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 4, 2026

The short version: AeroSnap stores your photos locally on your device. We don't have user accounts, we don't track your identity, and we don't sell your data. The only times data leaves your phone are: when you ask AeroSnap to identify an aircraft (photo sent to our AI provider), when you look up a tail number (sent to the public FAA registry), when you make a purchase (handled by Apple and RevenueCat), and when ads are displayed (free version only). Pack purchases remove third-party ads forever, though sponsored content from our partners may still appear.

Who we are

AeroSnap is operated by Forge Snap, an independent app studio. This Privacy Policy describes how AeroSnap handles your information.

Information AeroSnap stores on your device

The following information is stored locally on your iPhone or iPad and is never transmitted to us or any third party unless explicitly described in the next section:

This data stays on your device. If you delete the app, this data is deleted.

Information sent to third parties

AeroSnap uses the following third-party services. Here's what each one receives:

xAI (Grok API)

When you scan an aircraft, the photo is sent to xAI's Grok API for identification. The photo is processed and a result is returned. We do not include any user identifier with the request.

xAI's privacy policy: x.ai/legal/privacy-policy

FAA Aircraft Registry

When you type a tail number for verification, AeroSnap queries the FAA's public aircraft registry. Only the tail number you typed is sent. This is public-record data accessible to anyone.

RevenueCat

When you purchase a credit pack through the App Store, RevenueCat helps us validate the receipt with Apple. RevenueCat receives your anonymous Apple-assigned identifier and the product purchased. No name, email, or other personal information is shared.

RevenueCat privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy

Google AdMob (free version only)

The free version of AeroSnap displays third-party advertisements served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect your device's advertising identifier (IDFA), interaction data with ads, approximate location, and other information used to serve relevant ads. You will be asked through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt whether to allow AdMob to track your activity across other apps. AeroSnap functions normally regardless of your choice.

Advertising

AeroSnap's free tier displays advertisements to support the app. There are two types:

We do not sell your information to advertisers. Google AdMob handles ad targeting using its own data and any IDFA you've authorized through Apple's tracking prompt.

App Tracking Transparency

On first launch (or when you encounter an ad-supported feature), iOS will display Apple's tracking permission prompt asking whether AeroSnap can track your activity across other companies' apps and websites. This affects whether Google AdMob can use your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) for targeted ads. If you decline, AeroSnap continues to work normally; ads simply become less personalized.

Information we do NOT collect

AeroSnap does not:

Apple In-App Purchases

If you purchase credit packs, the transaction is processed by Apple. Apple handles your payment information directly — AeroSnap never sees your credit card or billing details. Apple shares anonymous transaction information with us via RevenueCat to confirm the purchase was successful. Once you've completed a purchase of any pack, third-party ads (Google AdMob) are removed permanently from the app on your account.

Children's privacy

AeroSnap does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app does not require accounts or personal information to function. We do not target advertisements to children.

Your rights

Because AeroSnap doesn't store your data on our servers, there's no account to delete or data export to request. Your data lives entirely on your device. To delete all AeroSnap data, simply delete the app.

You can manage advertising tracking permissions at any time through iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. You can also reset your device's advertising identifier through iOS Settings.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to how AeroSnap handles data, we'll update this page and note the change in the app's release notes. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
